A Gardening Club at Paulton Junior School run by two teachers is now award-winning, having entered both Bath in Bloom and the South West In Bloom competitions.

Teachers, Mrs Shackleton and Mrs Shenton have been overseeing the club, which runs both at lunchtimes and after school and encourages children to get outside and grow.

Paulton Junior School’s Gardening Club were Joint Winners of the Bath in Bloom Schools Category, winning a Gold Award, Trophy and £100 cheque, kindly sponsored by the Bath University Gardening Club.

They also entered the South West in Bloom “It’s Your Neighbourhood” competition with the school garden, and Year 4 entered their project alongside village group, Pride in Paulton, for the joint planting at The Hub.

Both achieved Level 5, Outstanding, but were also presented with a discretionary award, The Clem Preece Memorial Cup, for Outstanding effort by a school in promoting South West in Bloom. Pupils are enjoying getting their hands dirty and watching the new plants grow – and have been encouraging wildlife to come and make a new home in the school garden.
