Witches, wizards, Peter Rabbit, Mary Poppins, crocodiles and unicorns were all making their way in to local schools last Thursday, 7th March for World Book Day.
Designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, World Book Day grows bigger and bigger each year. With this year’s theme being ‘Share a Story’ and a new initiative launched for young people, entitled ‘Reading is Power’, World Book Day 2019 saw many fun activities taking place across the area, including storytelling, treasure hunts, a whodunnit literary mystery, a masterclass in illustration and much more!
Thank you to all of the schools that invited us along to cover your day, and to all of our wonderful readers who contributed their own photographs for this year’s special feature. See if you can spot you and your friends or your children and grandchildren here!
