Last week delivered a fantastic set of results that truly reflect the efforts of a wonderful cohort of children.
During these unprecedented times, they have worked tirelessly against the backdrop of lockdowns, periods of self-isolation and an ever changing landscape of how they would be assessed.
This, coupled with the personal difficulties many of them have faced throughout this horrific pandemic, makes these results even more impressive.
Headteacher at Norton Hill School, Gordon Green, said: “I have huge admiration for those students who have had to cope with a large number and a variety of assessments in such a short space of time and I am so pleased that they have achieved the results they so richly deserve. These outcomes will open doors to the next steps in their lives, whatever they choose to do.
“We will welcome record numbers back into the Midsomer Norton Sixth Form and we will continue to work hard to ensure that all students have a suitable destination in September.”
Over 90% of the students achieved Grade 4 passes in English and Maths and 82% achieved at least two grade 4 passes in Science.
90% of students achieved at least five standard passes (Grade 4 and above) across their subjects. Perhaps even more impressive was the numbers achieving the highest grades with around a third of all students gaining at least Grade 7 passes in English, Maths and Science respectively.
Results across all subject areas was equally strong and this has resulted in the highest ever progress and attainment scores with an overall Progress 8 score of +0.74 and an average
Attainment 8 score of 58.75.
