Following the Royal Wedding, excitement continued last week for eleven Midsomer Norton Sixth Form students, with a visit to Buckingham Palace to receive their Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award certificates.
They had all been eagerly awaiting their big day out and were rewarded with individual presentations made by HRH Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, and motivational speeches from people including TV chef, Rick Stein, Olympian, Max Whitlock and actor, Ross Kemp.
Current Midsomer Norton Sixth Form student, Mia, who now holds all three levels of this prestigious award, said: “I have really enjoyed my DofE journey and it has helped develop me in so many ways. I am studying for a place in Veterinary School and completing the Gold Award alongside my studies wasn’t easy, but at times, it did actually help with managing the pressure.
“Going to Buckingham Palace and meeting Prince William was amazing and something I will remember forever.”
