A new cross shape, made from beautiful oak, has been carved for Shoscombe Church School.
Last November, to mark the centenary of the Armistice, schoolchildren made ceramic poppies with local artist, Elaine Bruce, which have now been mounted on the cross.
School Headteacher, Ruth Noall, said: “We are delighted to receive our new stunning oak and clear fronted cross, with each poppy mounted inside.
Every poppy was labelled with the name of a local soldier, sailor or airman who lost their life in the conflict.”
The wood, central plaque and time were all given freely to create the cross by skilled master carpenter, David Noall.
“We have a plan of the names to match so we know which local soldier each poppy remembers,” added Ruth.
