Less than three in five A&E arrivals at Royal United Hospitals Bath seen within four hoursYear 7 students Kyra, Toby and Daniel came out on top, correctly spelling the most words in one minute. All Year 7 students at the school have been taking part in the national contest, where they have had to learn the spellings of 100 words in French and then spell out loud as many as they can within a minute.
Tom Hockaday, Head of Languages at Norton Hill, said: “We are really proud of all the students, who have more than risen to the challenge, and especially the three winners, who are now going on to represent the school at the regional finals in March.”
Headteacher, Gordon Green, added: “Norton Hill has a long history of success in this national contest, and we wish our three finalists the best of luck and thank them for their efforts to date.”
The competition is organised by ‘Routes into Languages’; a national consortium of university language departments working together with schools and colleges to enthuse and encourage students to continue with their language studies.
Norton Hill is a specialist Language College, recognised for its success with language learning, as well as holding the highest level of the British Council’s International Schools Award in recognition of its links with schools in other countries.
