School Headteacher, Ruth Noall, said: “Children in Years 5 and 6 have been exploring the link between science and technology, and spirituality over the last few weeks.

“They’ve created models with electronic moving parts out of cardboard, plastic and other pieces of material and then placed them in our school spirituality garden.

“The models, such as that of an aeroplane, are designed to be focal points for other children within the Spirituality garden.”

Shoscombe Church School, as well as having a spirituality garden, is home to a small play park for children, a sensory garden, a sand pit and a large chicken pen where children can learn about animal welfare.

The school gives pupils the opportunity to learn about a range of faiths and worldviews from around the world. For instance, as well as learning about Christian events and festivals, the Muslim festival of Eid and the Hindu festival of Diwali will also be studied as part of a wider RE curriculum throughout the year.
