It’s normal for the oldest pupils at St Julian’s School, Wellow, to take over The Egg Theatre in Bath at the end of the summer term – but sadly not this year.

The last eighteen months have been hugely challenging for schools, and so teachers have had to do things a little differently!

With theatres closed, what was a rural village school to do instead?

Headteacher, Ruth Noall, explains: “After their initial shock and disappointment last year of not being able to organise all the fun trips we used to do, our fantastic teachers have been creative in changing the way we do things at St Julian’s.

“This year’s end-of-year production of Wind in the Willows took place last week, in the familiarity of the school grounds.”

Even whilst not being able to put on the performance for the whole school to watch, Key Stage 2 pupils produced a full production of the famous book. They wrote, performed and filmed it themselves.

“The children have worked incredibly hard and we are really proud of their performance in what has been very difficult circumstances.

“I would like to thank all of our staff for their hard work in preparing the children, learning the songs, recording and editing the film,” added Ruth.
