On Saturday, Laurel Farm Kindergarten, Carlingcott, hosted its annual Summer Fair. This yearly fundraising event organised by parents, teachers and other ‘friendlies’ was a great success, and one which is very welcome in the school’s efforts to keep the early years setting open for the following academic year.

A spokesperson from the Kindergarten said: “The sun was shining brightly on all the people gathering round the Midsummer fire for singing and stories, and there was face painting and various crafts for the children.

“The afternoon was brightened up even more by the continuously-played live music, and there were stalls selling essential oils, homemade kimchi, beautiful dolls, a jumble sale and, of course, tea and wonderful cakes! There was fun to be had by all, and we made £844.

“Over the last few months, the Laurel Farm Kindergarten community has been working hard to make the setting and what’s available to children more widely known, but to keep it open, we need more families to join us.

“The community has pulled together; we have called in favours and are getting closer and closer to staying open for the following school year. We have opened a crowdfunder page to support the financial viability.

“It would be lovely to have more families enjoy all Laurel Farm has to offer.”
