Dragonfly Education Trust (incorporating Writhlington School and Mendip Studio School) have been crowned National Citizen Service Champion School for 2015.

The National Citizen Service supports young people aged 15-17 years old. Students learn new skills, gain exciting new experiences and contribute to their local communities. This fantastic programme is recognised by top universities and employers across the country and a massive boost on applications for university and jobs.

Students who have taken part in the programme this year completed some remarkable work both in the community, helping to re-paint local churches, community venues as well as running various fundraising events for local charities.

Executive Headteacher, Mark Everett, said: “The NCS programme has had a real impact on our students and it has been great to see so many of them active in the community making a real difference.”
