Residents, families, friends, and staff came together on a lovely whole day of fun last Saturday at the Beechcroft Residential Home for their annual Beechcrufts event.

The prize of a doggy gift basket was won by Billy the Spoodle and contained lots of goodies donated by Pets Corner in Midsomer Norton.

Contestants and their handlers were judged by the individual residents at the home based on their obedience, looks and agility.

Following the parade everyone enjoyed a Hound Dog or Mad Mutt cocktail followed by afternoon tea and cakes.

Manager Sue Lewis and Deputy Manager Louise Dodimead thanked everyone for all their help and support: “It’s really important to us to provide a friendly, home from home experience for our residents”, said Sue.

“It was a great afternoon for all, and it was lovely to see everyone coming together and enjoying themselves”.

The home has been ramping up the activities as part of a wider programme. “Our residents love the new services we’ve been adding this year, to really push activities to the forefront”, said Sue. “We regularly organise baking, gardening clubs, cinema nights, day trips out and nursery children visits”, she commented. “And of course a regular favourite – our cocktail trolley!”
