ADULTS of all ages are invited to take part in a free six-week course this summer, designed to help participants explore, reconnect with, and deepen their relationship with the natural world.
Organised by EcoWild and supported by the Somer Valley Rediscovered project, the course promotes wellbeing through nature-based activities, creativity, and shared experiences in the outdoors.
Starting on Thursday, August 7 and running weekly until Thursday, September 11, sessions will take place each Thursday from 10am to 12.30pm, based at the Swallow Community Café in Radstock.
Activities will include short walks along Waterside Valley, where participants will settle by the river, set up camp chairs, and take part in a wide range of guided nature-based practices.
The course includes nature crafts using materials such as willow, charcoal, wool, and wood, as well as mindfulness activities and land-based skills. Through sessions, participants will be encouraged to explore their own relationship with the natural environment, in a way that feels most comfortable to them.
This six-week nature-based course is part of the Somer Valley Rediscovered project, aligning with its aim to encourage greater engagement with the natural environment and support community wellbeing. By offering free, accessible outdoor sessions that connect participants with local green spaces, the course reflects the project's wider goals of promoting sustainable use of the landscape and enhancing public access to nature across the Somer Valley area.
It aims to support a range of environmental and wellbeing activities across the Somer Valley area, promoting sustainable use of local green spaces through partnership-led initiatives.
