A packed Farmborough Memorial Hall welcomed back for the third year running the very popular singing comedy group the Elderly Brothers.

They wowed the Goodwill members with some great old songs, ending with everyone singing along to ’Roll Out The Barrel’, ’On Mother Kelly’s Doorstep’ and many more, member Carol Wilks helping the boys out.

The group always introduce a comedy item, this year it was Ernie, the fastest milkman in the west. Another member was asked to play a part, Bob Sennington agreed to be Sue at number 22, he looked lovely in his blonde plaits.

Over the past year the boys have been entertaining residents in care homes from Midsomer Norton to Wells to Clevedon, loving every minute.

For the members it was off to Liverpool for five days, they were given three guided tours to Chester, Liverpool including Port Sunlight and Manchester, they were very fortunate to have superb guides, it was a great week away. In November the holiday will be at Warners Lakeside, Hayling Island.

This was followed by a sunny day to Cheddar and Weston-super-Mare, next month’s destination is the delightful Poole.

The Goodwill Club meets every second and fourth week in the month, with some really good entertainment and talks. Any pensioner will be made most welcome, just come along to a meeting at 2 p.m. and enjoy a cup of tea and a cake.
