This Saturday, 5th April, the Farmers' Market will be celebrating its tenth birthday with the Midsomer Norton and Radstock Silver Band, a hog roast, prize tombola and lots of additional food stalls.

Organisers are urging people to come along and join in the celebrations and meet the local farmers and producers involved. There will be hot refreshments from Writhlington School's Sixth Formers, a hog roast from 'Pure Pigs' and birthday cake from 'The Pudding Kitchen'.

Producers will be donating prizes into a tombola and we have great prizes, such as a signed cookery book from Bristol's very popular 'Pieminister', to be won.

Ex-Day Manager, Cathy Pegler, who helped launch the market, is coming back over from Portugal where she grows olives and will have a stall selling her own olive oil and, no doubt, will be happy to reminisce about the launch in 2004!

The market has expanded considerably since its original launch in the Methodist Hall and is renowned for its friendly atmosphere, live music and great food and is well established in the Hollies Gardens as the place to shop and socialise on the first Saturday of the month!

Regular producers at the market span a wide range from traditional breed pork to venison and game, fresh fish and a huge variety of cheeses and baked goods, including Pieminister and Taylors bread. Over the years, there are more and more local food businesses launching and the market is the best way to showcase new talent and gather a loyal local following. So, on Saturday we'll have biodynamic vegetables and free range eggs from Kilmersdon's Moonacre Farm and organic naturally yeasted loaves from the Hill Bakery and cakes from Coleford's Pistachio.
