A project to reduce CO2 emissions in Farrington Gurney is asking for villagers’ help to complete a survey and in doing so, understand any opportunities that could help reduce levels.

Could the village generate its own energy? What about increasing walking and cycling? How many more trees could be planted? Architecture students have been taking thermal imaging photographs to identify where houses lose the greatest amount of heat – so that residents know where they need most insulation.

The project is being undertaken by the University of Bath’s School of Management, one of the first English business schools to undertake the Vertically Integrated Project, a new kind of project in English Universities where students of different disciplines can work together on community projects.

The survey went live on February 24th and results will be presented at the Village Hall on March 11th at 8 pm. For information and to complete the survey, visit: www.farringtongreen.com

The project is run by Professor Margaret Heffernan and Senior Lecturer, Kostas Iatridis. Professor Heffernan is also a Parish Councillor, Professor of Practice, a former Chief Executive and author of six books – who lives in the village. The VIP was the brainchild of Farrington resident, John Treble, who has been an environmental consultant for some thirty years. The project is supported by the Parish Council.
