Paulton’s Hub was the venue for local traders to find out if they had won a prize in the village’s Festive Window Competition. Held last Thursday morning, hampers were awarded to The Red Lion, which won first place, and a joint second prize for the League of Friends Charity Shop and Café Bombero, situated within The Hub.
Silver Gilt awards went to Bryan G. Bishop Funeral Directors and The Lamb Inn, Silver went to Partners 2 Hair Salon, Poppies and SG Taylor Clocks and Watches, and Bronze was awarded to Little Star Nursery and Home from Home.
Prizes were provided by Paulton Parish Council and refreshments were paid for by B&NES Councillors, Liz Hardman and John Bull.
This is the second year that the competition has been run by the Parish Council, which was originally begun by Ward Councillor, John Bull. Invites are sent out to local businesses by the Parish Council to take part, to keep up the Christmas cheer in Paulton and to promote village pride. Prizes were awarded on how inviting the displays were, in order to encourage shoppers.
