Many parts of the local area found itself underwater yesterday evening as a heavy storm brought a deluge of rain. The sheer volume meant many drains could not cope and run-off from fields left drivers navigating huge swathes of water.

Midsomer Norton High Street businesses experienced flooding with a blocked drain outside the Primary School, meaning water travelled across the footbridge opposite and into some of the shops, with the Chip Inn having to sweep out excess water.

The Mayor of Midsomer Norton, Cllr Paul Myers, has said this morning that the Town Council will be investigating the lowered kerb opposite the school and may lobby B&NES Highways to see if anything can be done, as if it is raised, it may act as a barrier to stop water travelling across the road.
