A CHARITY walk supporting elderly people in Somerset and Eastern Ukraine will be led by former Lord-Lieutenant of Somerset Annie Maw, who will complete the 30-mile journey by wheelchair.

As part of a two-day fundraising challenge, Annie Maw will cover 30 miles by wheelchair, journeying from Bath Abbey to Wells Cathedral on Saturday, September 13 and Sunday, September 14.

The fundraising challenge was unveiled at Wells' historic almshouses, where the recently restored 15th-century chapel was rededicated by the Bishop of Bath and Wells.

Despite sustaining a life-changing spinal injury over two decades ago in a near-fatal accident, Pilton resident Annie Maw continues to pursue fundraising efforts. Last year, she was carried to the top of Glastonbury Tor in her wheelchair by a team of firefighters.
