FREE scenic outings are now on offer to residents at Crandon Springs Care Home in Wells, thanks to a new partnership with the Wells Community Network (WCN) Trishaw Project.

The WCN Trishaw Project aligns perfectly with Crandon Springs’ commitment to life enrichment by providing opportunities for residents to get out and about to explore the beautiful city of Wells and its surroundings, alongside the full and varied programme of activities offered at the home.

The Trishaw initiative has already seen Crandon Springs residents and their loved ones enjoying scenic outings, returning with smiles and positive feedback about the experience.

Resident Jane said: “It was great fun. People were waving at us and we felt part of the city and community.”

Joy added: “It was a really enjoyable ride. We stopped along the way and it felt nice to get out and about. More people should take the opportunity.”

The Trishaw, which is piloted by WCN trained volunteers, uses a battery-assisted rickshaw-style tricycle. Designed to support people with mobility challenges and those in the community who may feel isolated, the project completed over 120 free outings in its first year.

Meg Cleal, general manager at Crandon Springs Care Home, welcomed the opportunity for residents to connect with the community, saying: “These rides are more than just outings; they’re moments of connection and happiness. Seeing our residents engage with the community and experience the sights of Wells first hand in such a novel and fun way is lovely.”
