Mark Shelford, the Conservative candidate to be the next Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) in Avon and Somerset, visited North East Somerset to talk to local people about the crime challenges the area faces.
He held talks with local MP Jacob Rees-Mogg and met residents in Keynsham.
Mark said: “Residents are very concerned about the increase in dangerous driving in recent weeks, including youths on motorbikes in several towns. Anti-social behaviour was another repeated worry, raised time and again.
“There is also concern about a rise in drug-dealing, sometimes in broad daylight. The terrible impact of drugs is not restricted to the users. This criminal activity also damages families and communities.”
Mark has said there needs to be a refocusing of the police on crime fighting, with a greater presence on the streets and in all communities.
“I also want to see much more active multi-agency working on social and mental support issues, allowing the police to focus on what we pay them for – to fight crime,” he added.
Mark is asking residents to fill out his online crime survey at: www.markshelford.org.uk to help him build up a clear picture of what people across Avon and Somerset want to see the police focus on in the future.
