A group of friends in Year 7 at Norton Hill School have completed a triathlon over three weekends to raise money for Sport Relief.
Twelve-year-old Ella Flagg decided to raise funds for the charity after seeing it on television and convinced her friends, Jamima Green, Rosie Beer and Evie Thomas to join her. She said: “I saw an advert on the telly and decided it would be a good idea to raise some money. We are all quite sporty and it is for a very good cause.”
The girls started their challenge with a 5k run along the Greenway from Thicket Mead to Radstock park and back,
followed by cycling a 15k route along the Two Tunnels from Wellow to Bath and back again and then on the third weekend, they swam 100 lengths at Midsomer Norton Sports Centre (2.5k). The sports centre kindly allowed them to swim for free as it was for charity.
During the course of their challenge, the girls collected sponsorship from friends and family and raised £205 for Sport Relief. They said: “It was tiring, but good fun and for a good cause!”
