Friends of the family of Ethan Jones are coming together on the day that the Royal Marine’s Mother, Natasha, runs the Bath Half Marathon to further boost her fundraising total, which has already exceeded a massive £10,000.

A walk will take place on Sunday, 15th March in memory of twenty-year-old Ethan Jones, who tragically passed away during a training exercise for the Royal Marines on 24th January. Ethan’s mother, Natasha, had already begun training for the Bath Half before her son’s death to raise money for the Royal Marines Charity. Ever since, people have been donating to her page with messages of support.

One of the organisers of the walk, Helen Dowling, told The Journal: “The whole community has been shocked and saddened by Ethan’s death, so we came up with the idea to walk while Natasha runs the Bath Half Marathon to raise awareness of the charity and to raise as much money as possible.

“We feel that it is something we can do to support the family at this dreadful time.

“Any donations would be gratefully received and anyone who would like to join the walk would be very welcome.”

The group will leave Norton Hill School at 10 a.m. to complete a 6.8 mile walk along the cyclepath between Midsomer Norton, Radstock and Thicket Mead. Helen adds: “Everyone is welcome to join us for the whole walk, or for part of it – the more people we have walking, the better.

“Donations can be paid directly into Tash’s Just Giving Page, or you can collect sponsors/donations.”

On a Facebook page, Natasha said: “As many of you will know, our son, Ethan Jones, tragically passed away following an accident on a training exercise.

“I now need your support more than ever, as it will be an emotional day running in his memory.

“We never expected to be receiving the support of The Royal Marines Charity this early in his career, and as a result, want to give back as much as we can. Thanks to all that have already donated, we are extremely grateful.”
