Organisers of the Temple Cloud Charity Fun Day, the annual event for the village, are celebrating after the event beat its £15,000 target.
For the past four years, a local family and dedicated volunteers have organised the event to raise money for the Wallace and Gromit Grand Appeal, which supports Bristol Children’s Hospital. One of the organisers, Tash Dix, told The Journal: “Bristol Children’s Hospital saved my nephew’s life when he was just thirteen months old and contracted meningitis. Without their care, he may not have been here today.
“We would like to say a massive thank you to this year’s event sponsors, Ken Biggs contractors, Paul Gunstone Mechanical, Inside Out Skip Hire, A2B Printing Solutions, R.A Fibreglass and J.Js Cider, along with our stallholders and of course, the public – without you, we wouldn’t be able to raise this incredible amount of money.
“Our money so far has gone towards building accommodation for families to stay in whilst their child is in hospital, directly opposite the building – something which wasn’t there when Morgan was poorly, so we had to travel every day.”
