A local student, who has just completed her second course of chemotherapy, is throwing herself into a project to raise funds for cancer charities.

Lucia Robinson, aged fifteen, who is a student at Writhlington School, is selling Go Blue For Lucia silicone wristbands and hosting a 5K race and fun run at Southwick Country Park this Sunday, 12th October.

"So many people have asked how they can help and support me and that's wonderful," says Lucia, who has astrocytoma, a type of cancer of the brain. "Blue is my favourite colour, so I suggested that people wear blue clothes, or paint their fingernails blue, but now people are dyeing their hair and beards and we've already sold a thousand blue wristbands!"

The funds Lucia is raising will be split between Ward 38 of Bristol Children's Hospital, the Teenage Cancer Trust, the Rainbow Trust and CLIC Sargent.

All are welcome at the fun run and walk, no matter their age or ability. Runners may be pleased to hear that there are prizes in ten categories!
