Members of the Farrington Golf and Country Club have raised an amazing £12,227.37 for Midsomer Norton charity, SWALLOW, supporting local people with learning disabilities and presented them with the huge cheque last Thursday, 8th November.

The Three Captains Charity Day, organised by senior member, Ken Hutton, and held on Friday, 3rd August this year, raised over £5,000 for the charity, with further fundraising over the course of a year to reach their very grand total. Fundraising events at the club have included regular golf competitions, raffles and other events such as wine tasting and social evenings.

The money will be used to take on additional premises to help the charity cope with the demand for its services. SWALLOW Trustee, Kate Atkinson, said: "We are so grateful for the support of all the members of the Farrington Golf Club and their families and friends. They have been tirelessly working throughout the year and have raised a colossal amount of money which will make a tremendous difference to what we will be able to achieve. Next year, SWALLOW celebrates its twentieth anniversary and this donation will help build a strong foundation for the next twenty years."

SWALLOW provides a range of help and support to enable people with learning disabilities to live enriched, independent lives. If you would like more information about the work that SWALLOW does, contact: 01761 414034 or email: [email protected]">[email protected]
