Residents of Midsomer Norton are being invited to help shape the town's Neighbourhood Plan at two consultation events on Friday, 28th November (9 a.m. to 9 p.m.) and on Saturday, 6th December (9 a.m. to 1 p.m). Officers from Bath and North East Somerset Council will also be seeking your input on the Placemaking Plan at the same events.

The Neighbourhood Plan Working Group are running drop-in sessions at Midsomer Norton Town Hall where the emerging vision and objectives for the plan will be available for people to see and comment on, as well as the emerging Placemaking Plan for B&NES.

"These events are so important to make sure that the plan reflects what people in the town really want," said Jenny Hillman, Chair of the Steering Group. "We hope to see as many people as possible dropping in to see what we have done so far and helping us to make sure that we have a plan that represents their views."

Since the town was designated as a Neighbourhood Plan area in November 2013, a Steering Group of volunteer residents and Town Councillors has been analysing the huge amount of comments from last year's Community Survey to develop the key components of the plan and narrow down what the most important polices might be.

After the consultation events, the draft Neighbourhood Plan will be further developed, with a view to seeking endorsement through an external inspection and a referendum in the summer of 2015. If the plan is adopted, the town will have a formal set of policies that will be used to shape future development and ensure that the town is able to use any developer contributions for the town's benefit.

The B&NES Placemaking Plan seeks to set out principles for future development and this is an ideal opportunity to consult residents at the same time as the Neighbourhood Plan.
