It was International Nurses Day on Wednesday, 12th May and never has it been more poignant to say thank you to a profession who look after us so selflessly.
Nurses and retired Nurses have been delivering Covid vaccines at the Somer Centre, in Midsomer Norton, since the vaccination programme began.
Liz Hersch, Clinical Director at Three Valleys Primary Care Network said: “Our practice nursing teams are an incredible and much valued resource. They care for hundreds of patients every year in many different ways, from chronic disease management and skin care to minor illness and vaccinations.
“Without our nurses we could not have delivered the most successful flu vaccine campaign ever in 2020 and already given over 30,000 Covid vaccines to our most vulnerable patients. This year, our nurses will be offering group consultations for our diabetic patients which is a new, evidence - based sustainable way to deliver excellent personalised care.”
Kayley Deacon-Hayes, a care coordinator at Elm Hayes Surgery working at the Somer Centre Covid clinic last Wednesday said: “It’s great to celebrate
International Nurses Day. Nurses really are amazing people and they work so hard.”
Beth Evans, retired nurse volunteering at the Somer Centre Covid clinic in Midsomer Norton said: “Nurses are amazing people who do so much to help so many.
“Being a nurse is a vocation and I’ve been really humbled and proud to help out with the Covid vaccination drive.”
