Strike action of Junior Doctors around the country after talks with Government ministers broke down saw RUH staff picketing at the hospital on Tuesday, 12th January.
Junior Doctors at Southmead and the BRI in Bristol also took part in strike action.
Doctors staged a walk-out on Tuesday from 8 a.m., which lasted into Wednesday, 13th January, although Emergency Care was provided to patients during the designated strike time.
Bath’s Royal United Hospital issued a statement assuring patients that they would be safely cared for during industrial action. Further strikes have been scheduled for Tuesday, 26th January for 48 hours from 8 a.m. and on Wednesday, 10th February from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. It is advised that you contact the hospital should you have an appointment during these times and you are not sure whether to attend.
Residents have been urged to speak to a GP or pharmacist for medical help to ease the strain of A&E departments and to use the 111 number where possible.
