John Reynolds, local running superstar and the founder of local running club, Westfield TT, visited Welton Primary School before the summer holidays to finish their term of ‘Move a Mile’ and share his incredible life story.

John has faced many challenges in his life, but he spoke to the children about how important it is to follow your dreams and to never give up!

Recently, John has undergone two hip replacements and this was his first run after teaching himself to walk again for the third time.

The children were over the moon that John chose to run with them and he has definitely inspired many of them.

Speaking via the Westfield TT Facebook page, John spoke about the school visit. “This was a huge landmark for myself regarding my recovery from having undergone a double hip replacement.

“At one point it looked as if I would struggle to ever walk properly again.

“But after being here before and tackling the side effects of radiotherapy, when it does strike, and totally turn your world and beliefs upside down, you have to be stronger.

“The school visit was a day I shall never forget and always look back on, as, with the help from the children of Welton Primary School, I managed to run my first bionic mile with new hips.

“It is still going to be a massive journey ahead – but each step takes you nearer to reaching your goal.”
