Dunkerton WI held their Harvest Meeting on Tuesday, 12th October at Tunley Recreation Centre which looked amazing with cloths and flowers on all the tables.
We were pleased to welcome three visitors. Members who were not fortunate enough to participate were interested to hear about a recent coach trip to the Bristol Harbourside. Our trip included a visit to the Riverside Garden Centre for coffee, time to browse and have lunch in the vicinity of the Mshed before climbing the cranes and trips on the fireboat, Pyronaut, arranged by Clive Brain from the Mshed.
A Christmas meal has been arranged at the King William Pub.
We then all enjoyed a Ploughman’s meal with home made bread rolls and pickles followed by a medley of desserts provided by the committee. Following the meal we welcomed Reverend Tony Roake of the Church of All Saints Dunkerton and St Peter’s Camerton.
Tony gave us a fascinating insight into his life as an Anglican Minister, from life in much deprived areas of the country to an interesting life as Chaplain in The Hague in the Netherlands.
We have a members meeting in November when we have our Annual AGM. Jan Binns
