Thanks to Chris James who sent us these photos on Monday evening. He says: “At 7.30 p.m. on Monday, 17th August, a hot air balloon landed on the Collier’s Way cyclepath at the end of Meadow View, Radstock, just missing an old telegraph pole.

"I went into the front garden to find out why the dog was barking and heard the burner, then saw the top of the balloon above the bushes alongside my drive. I went out onto the road and then saw the balloon on the cyclepath, so dashed back indoors to get my camera. I am not sure if it intended to land in such a confined space, or whether there was some sort of emergency.

“I didn’t speak to the pilot as he was very busy deflating the balloon and trying to stop it snagging on the trees. But it must have been a very skilful landing to bring it down safely in such a tight spot.”
