Incoming Midsomer Norton and Radstock Inner Wheel President, Sue Hopkins, is gearing up for a year of membership boosting, friendship, and promotion of international understanding.
Sue received her chain of office from last year’s President, Jacky Emm, at Emborough’s Old Down Inn where members recapped on the club’s 60th anniversary year, celebrated in style with a dinner/dance at the Swan Hotel in Wells.
Throughout Jacky’s year, speakers inspired and entertained with topics as diverse as Knickers to Uganda and Florence Nightingale; Secret Santa again appeared at Hartley’s Christmas meal; Inner Wheel Day was spent knitting bobble hats for premature babies and collecting for the local food bank; regular coffee mornings, inter clubs and outings further added to the club’s camaraderie.
A Travelling Trends fashion show raised £1,000 for the Children’s Air Ambulance and over £1,000 more was amassed for local and national charities including Hospice SW, Kidney Research and Water Aid.
“I fundamentally feel we must make Inner Wheel fun and engaging,” said Sue, former Operations Director for Leonard Cheshire Homes. If you would like to get involved, please ring Sue on: 07944 298036 or Elaine on 07543 973666.
