Internationally-renowned concert pianist, Martin Jones, is beginning his concert tour of North America with a pre-tour performance for one night only at Midsomer Norton Town Hall, at 7.30 p.m. on Wednesday, 4th September.

Adopting an innovative approach, the new Midsomer Norton Community Trust is throwing the concert open with free entry for all in the hope of attracting as many people to come along as possible.

The performance will include a range of piano music including Debussy, Barber, Bennet, Gershwin, Busoni and Stravinsky, all on the recently-acquired superb Town Hall 1906 Bechstein Grand Piano, which is turning into a major asset in itself by attracting artists to the town.

Martin Jones' London debut was at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in 1968, followed by a debut in New York at Carnegie Hall. He has performed with various orchestras throughout the world, including the London Festival Orchestra, the Halle Orchestra, the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and the BBC Welsh Orchestra. Besides many standard concertos, he has played the Ferruccio Busoni Concerto and the Samuel Barber Concerto, as well as concertos by William Mathias, John McCabe, Constant Lambert and Xaver Scharwenka. He toured Canada with the BBC Welsh

Orchestra and has given recitals in Florida,

Tennessee and California, a Brahms recital at Wigmore Hall in 1993 and radio broadcasts in Britain,

Ireland and the United States.
