Formed in 1967, the charity provides accessible transport for those within our communities who are elderly, infirm, suffering disability or have special needs.
Unfortunately, the number of clubs in the area seeking group transport has gradually declined over recent years with a further significant reduction in the aftermath of the pandemic.
It would be a great shame if this once well supported and valued community service, which is operated solely by volunteers, disappears from our local landscape.
If you are an existing community group within the Bath & North East Somerset locality or surrounding villages with a desire to get your members ‘out and about’ and involved in community activities, or you are thinking of setting up such a group to help combat loneliness and social isolation, now is the time to come forward before it is too late.
Perhaps you are finding it a challenge to get your club members to and from meetings, lunch clubs, social gatherings, Church services and the like, or are simply wanting to arrange a group outing to the theatre or a day out to the seaside.
The team of experienced volunteers are here to help using a fully accessible twelve seater minibus which is fitted with a low step side door to ease getting in and out and for those passengers who find that physically difficult, or who are wheelchair users, there is a rear mounted lift.
The charity is currently operating with an absolute minimum number of volunteers and should the demand for its services increase, it will be essential to grow the size of the team of volunteer drivers and to bolster the number of helpers and trustees to assist with administration and management.
If you are interested in using this service, joining the team of volunteer drivers or becoming a helper or trustee, please get in touch with either Melvyn Johnson (01761 452585) or Nick Rogers (07817 476535)
Don’t delay, act today as tomorrow it may be too late to save your local community minibus. It really is a case of ‘use it or lose it’.
Melvyn & Nick very much look forward to taking your call.
