Well done to twelve-year-old Jack Murray, from Westfield, who attends Norton Hill School, for recently winning the Skate Jam at Shepton Mallet skate park, with first prize being £50 and lots of other goodies.
His proud mum, Sallyanne, said: “Jack started on two wheels at the age of two, when he asked for his stabilisers to be taken off his bike.
“He had his first scooter at the age of five, which was a JDBug, and has used Midsomer Norton Skatepark since with either myself or his grandmother, Christine, spending hours sitting there with him.
“He has watched hours and hours of YouTube videos and then gone to the park to practice and make perfect his skills. He is totally self taught and spends up to nine hours a day at the park during the summer.
“His idol is Leo Spencer and his dream is to be a professional rider and ride all over the world. He had a few competitions this year, so we are hoping he gets the recognition he deserves.
“I am so proud of what Jack is achieving and I believe one day his dream will come true. He puts every hour into his scooters, either riding, cleaning or building them, and it costs me and his grandmother a small fortune!”
“Last weekend, Jack also won a sponsorship deal at Ramps Skatepark in Llanelli to join the Grit Scooters Team as an academy rider. We are over the moon!”
