Westfield resident, John Reynolds, has been named ‘Inspirational Citizen of the Year’, and was presented an award by Chair of Westfield Parish Council, Geoff Fuller, at a council meeting on Monday night.
John, known locally and across the country for his ambitions and successul charity runs and marathons, was presented the award for his influence in the community.
When John started Westfield TT running club four years ago, the group had only six members. Today, the group has grown to 500.
During the meeting, John gave a short speech about his aims and achievements with Westfield TT, including his next challenge: running 100 miles a day for four days in a row! John’s latest challenge intends to raise money for Dorothy House Hospice, beginning 2 p.m. on Thursday, 3rd May from the White Post Inn and finishing in the same location on Bank Holiday Monday, 7th May.
John has raised thousands for charities over the years, and doesn’t intend to stop any time soon. John’s relentless spirit lead Cllr Geoff Fuller to joke: “It’s always hard to get hold of John, as he’s always running. Instead of getting a taxi back from the London Marathon, he ran. He didn’t know there was a bus.”
