RADCO staff volunteers were thrilled to receive a ‘Gold’ award, while the Haydon Community Garden volunteers, led by Angus Hooper, were rated ‘Outstanding’ in the ‘It’s Your Neighbourhood’ section of the recent In Bloom competition, as was Writhlington School’s Orchid Project.
The judges were particularly impressed with the Writhlington Village Hall Trust allotments, organised by Cllr Nick Toogood. Despite all of the difficulties with the site this year, St Nicholas Primary School did well, too.
The Chair of Radstock in Bloom, Royston Knight, thanked all of the volunteers, especially Sean Fletcher, who was responsible for this year’s amazing Amberol hanging baskets. He also expressed the committee’s appreciation of the support received from their sponsors, Radstock Town Council, Radstock Co-operative Society and the Radstock Traders’ Assocation, Radstock Museum, SWALLOW, and the Radstock Churches.
One year ends, another begins. Radstock in Bloom will be holding its Annual General Meeting on Thursday, 25th October at 7 p.m. in Trinity Methodist Church Hall, The Street, Radstock. All are welcome. Not only will the new committee be elected, but the theme for 2019 will be chosen.
