The Big Blue Playbus has been given a donation for £100 from the Radstock and Midsomer Norton Lions, having read the story featured in The Journal on 1st March, reporting the charity had been targeted by diesel thieves. The double-decker bus is fully-converted as a mobile community centre, providing an all-weather play facility for local children.

The first bus, Bertha, was purchased in 1985 and has been replaced a few times since then. Radstock and Midsomer Norton Lions were dismayed to hear that diesel from the bus had been stolen whilst it was being serviced, and at their business meeting in March, it was decided that a donation would be made towards the running costs of the bus.

The club was delighted to help fund this community project. You too can be involved by doing good in the community with the Lions by contacting your local club, Radstock and Midsomer Norton. Google ‘Radstock Lions’ and you will find them. More on the Playbus at: www.thecommunitybus.org.uk

Senior Playworker, Emma Hazleton, spoke to The Journal this week and said: “The Community Bus would like to thank not only the Lions for their generosity, but also thank the anonymous donors who have given us private contributions over the last few weeks.

“We appreciate the continued support we receive from our local communities.”
