There are an estimated 6,600 people in B&NES currently living with sight loss. Sight Support West of England provides emotional, practical and social support for people living with sight loss.

Significant sight loss can make it incredibly hard to get out of the house, and to adapt to new situations, such as moving schools or employment, accessing clubs and activities. The fear of stigma alone can be a huge deterrent, and when added to the practical issues of leaving the house with sight impairment, it can often seem like an insurmountable barrier.

There are lots of things that can help with re-learning everyday tasks and getting out and about and many resources which can help. Sight Support helps to equip people with the tools they need to continue to live their lives independently and to the full.

As travel can be a barrier to many, the team run appointment sessions in a range of hubs across the region. A Community Sight Loss Adviser will be available at Midsomer Norton Town Hall on Thursday, 27th May to offer information, advice and guidance.
