After an ‘actors rest’ period, Paulton Amateur Dramatics (PADS) group have re-energised with big plans for 2016/17.

To kick off, they put together and performed, over three nights a comedy classic, Hi-De-Hi, in aid of three Paulton community groups. They were Paulton Junior School PTA, the Paulton Scout and Guide hut and The Paulton Hospital Shop.

PADS are delighted to announce that they managed to raise £600 for worthy Paulton causes, to which they have now given out three £200 cheques to each community group.

John Turner, the Chairman of PADS, said: “We are thrilled with this achievement and what we have been able to give back to the local community. I must pay tribute to all my volunteers, who clearly have an ambition to be champions, not only on stage, but of their local communities. All of the team volunteer their time and energy and the succecess of Hi de Hi, is down to their hard work and efforts. I would also like to thank all of our audiences for their time and enthusiasm for what we do, again, their efforts really rally the PADS team, to go on to do bigger and better things!”

Script planning for the next big theatre event of 2017, the Panto, starts on August 15th.

John continued: “We are all very much looking forward to entertaining Paulton in late January, with what will be a great theatrical extravaganza. We will keep you up to date on progress as we organise auditions in mid-September.”

Jenny Perez, Chair of Paulton Junior School PTA, said: “It is very generous of PADS to donate this money to the school and we are extremely grateful. It will enable us to buy additional items for the children, items we couldn’t buy otherwise. We are looking forward to our ongoing association with PADS.”

The direction of PADS will now continue as a community based group that will always look to give funds raised back into the local community, once production costs and future production funds have been taken out. PADS is now working on its next production, which will be a Panto coming out at the end January 2017. Auditions will be held for the show in mid-September, details released nearer the time.
