Age UK B&NES has been named Community Group of the Year by Midsomer Norton Town Council.
The local charity was presented with a trophy in recognition of the wide range of events and activities it offers to residents at the Midsomer Norton Hub.
Cllr Lynda Robertson presented the award to volunteers, Nigel and Wendy Hayman, Patricia Haynes, and Age UK B&NES’ communications officer, Sally Harris.
Ketyn Jepson, who runs Age UK B&NES’ Midsomer Norton Hub, said: “It’s a real honour to receive this award from Midsomer Norton Town Council in recognition of our Hub which launched last September. It’s been a joy to see how successful our activities have become in the town and how much they benefit the older residents.”
Janet Dabbs, Chief
Executive of Age UK B&NES, added: “All our work is very much a team effort and I’d like to thank all the volunteers in Midsomer Norton who are essential to the running of the Hub. I’d also like to thank the Town Council and Midsomer Norton Community Trust for their support for our work.”
The Midsomer Norton Hub now runs most of its sessions for over 55s from The Somer Centre.
