PUPILS at Welton Primary School have been given a significant boost to their technological education following a visit from local councillor Shaun Hughes.
The BANES councillor for Midsomer Norton North funded the purchase of several new Chromebooks to expand the school's IT resources enabling a step forward in improving its digital technology.
This investment aims to provide pupils with greater opportunities to develop essential skills and become responsible, informed digital citizens in an increasingly connected world
The pupils excitedly welcomed Cllr Hughes to their classrooms and were eager to demonstrate their current projects. Head of school at Welton Primary, Mr Lyle, welcomed the collaboration and highlighted the long-term impact of such community support.
"We are incredibly grateful to Cllr Hughes for his support," said Mr Lyle. "In this day and age, digital literacy is not just an advantage; it is a necessity.
“By providing these Chromebooks, we are ensuring that our children benefit from the very best tools available, allowing them to navigate the digital age with confidence, safety, and creativity.”
During a tour of the school, Cllr Hughes spent time observing lessons and speaking with both staff and students about the diverse curriculum on offer.
Cllr Hughes said: "It has been an absolute pleasure to visit Welton Primary and see the fantastic learning opportunities it has to offer.
“I am deeply impressed by the dedication of the staff and the enthusiasm of the pupils. Investing in these Chromebooks is an investment in the future of our community, and it is wonderful to see the children so engaged and ready to learn.”
The school is now looking forward to seeing the future partnerships it can develop within the local community with the aim to further enrich the educational experiences of its pupils through collaboration with local leaders and businesses.
