Sport has been hard to come by since the latest lockdown, but that hasn’t stopped one player from Mendip Hockey Club from keeping active.

In January, Jacob Stocker, 17-years-old from Paulton, challenged himself to run 150km in four weeks over the course of February to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Jacob said: “Sadly, just before Christmas, my Auntie Aug passed away after a long fight with cancer. She often spent her time giving back to people and I think it is time we all came together to give something back too – that would mean the world to her.”

Running in the memory of his Auntie (Audrey Shehean), alongside her grandson, Ruben, Jacob has clocked up the miles ahead of time. Reaching 150km in just three weeks, he looks to push on to 200km by the end of the month, smashing his goal.

It’s not just the distance that he has gone above and beyond, but the amount raised, too. At the time of writing, Jacob has helped raise just shy of £1,500 in just a few weeks. He has done Mendip Hockey and Audrey proud as he continues to run like the wind!
