Walkers frustrated by the ban on group walks due to Covid restrictions can now polish up their walking boots for the return of the Somer Valley Walking Festival.

The fifth Festival (postponed in 2020 because of the pandemic) will be based this year in Peasedown St. John and Paulton . Our programme is:

Saturday, 11th September at 10 a.m for the Limestone Link Walk following the course of the Somersetshire Coal Canal from Paulton, Basin to Limpley Stoke, Dundas Aqueduct. 11 miles with free transport back from Limpley Stoke provided.

2 p.m. 3.5 mile circular walk around Paulton and Farrington Gurney.

Evening; 3.5 mile Sunset Stroll from the Beacon Hall, Peasedown St.John.

Sunday, 12th September we have a choice of four walks from the Beacon Hall, Peasedown St John: 10 a.m is our 7 miles to Combe Hay via Limestone Link, the Fosse Way and Combe Hay tunnel or 10 a.m. 8 miles to Shoscombe and Wellow via Foxcote passing Stoney Littleton Long Barrow.

10 a.m. 13 miles round the Conygre, Cam and Somer Valleys enjoying magnificent views after some strenuous hill climbs.Also visits the Long Barrow.

2 p.m. 3.5 mile Stroller led by local Councillor round Peasedown (route as for the Sunset Stroll). All walks are free and led by experienced walk leaders.
