The charity, who provide Admiral Nurses for families affected by dementia, set up a ‘March Dog Walking Challenge’ where participators joined their virtual Facebook funraiser and completed 100k in the month of March.

Claire, who decided to fundraise in memory of her mum and grandmother, who both died from dementia in their fifties, went above and beyond, totalling an impressive 118.14km, equal to 73.4 miles.

She told The Journal: “I completed the March Dog Walking Challenge with my dog, Tyler. We had to do 100km throughout March, but we did not stop and ended up doing over that.

“I would like to say thank you to my family, friends and work for sponsoring me. All together, I managed to raise £125.”

Not stopping there, Claire decided that she wanted to raise even more money for the charity, so undertook their ‘Walk 30 Miles in April’ challenge.

The duo walked along beaches and countryside to
complete their April challenge, following their
completition of 100km in March.

Not only did they complete the thirty miles in nine days, but they also doubled their fundraising money!

Claire continued: “My second challenge was walking for thirty miles for Dementia UK.

“My dog and I finished this one in only nine days, with many of the walks taking place after my twelve hour shifts.

“I wanted to do these challenges in memory of my mum and nan who died of this illness at an early age.

“I would, again, like to say a huge thank you to my family, friends and Yeo Valley for the generous donations. I have raised a grand total of £545!”
