The event raises money for Clic Sargent, and was set up by Nige and Su Crutchley, in memory of their son, Ben, who sadly passed away from a brain tumor in 2012. Last year, the 10k raised over £6,500, bringing the total up to £50,000 over the years.
Ben was just nine-years-old when he was diagnosed, and despite treatment and superb care – particularly with the help of Clic Sargent nurses – Ben very sadly passed away in February 2012. His parents and older brother are now working to ensure that as much money as possible can be raised to help support the nurses who helped their family so much – their target is £1 million.
The Mells 10k is for participants walking, running or cycling, with walkers starting at 10 a.m., runners at 11 a.m. and cyclists at 11.15 a.m., with the emphasis being on fundraising – it is not a race.
This year’s event takes place on Saturday, 13th October at 10 a.m. at The Mells 10k To register, please visit: www.mells10k.com
