A warm welcome was extended by local Methodist Minister, Rev. Jan Tate, to Pastor Juan Manuel and his family on an exchange visit from Alotenango, Guatemala.

Trinity member, Sharn Pepperell and Latin Link Team visited the Pastor’s school last year which he set up to give poor families the chance of an education.

The Sunday Service had some lively singing of new and traditional hymns, the Trinity Singers and Jan spoke about our marvellous world, where we live and places visited. The Pastor spoke of his thanks for the support and donations and showed pictures of the children and families. Afterwards, Pastor Juan gave out picture cards written in Spanish by the children of his school to pray and support them, followed by a lovely spread of bring and share lunch which was enjoyed by all our families and visitors alike.

This visit has enabled the family to see schools and churches, where the Pastor, with translators, has spoken of the hardships and blessings that the children face in the town where children are sent to work rather than school, with many parents today who cannot read or write. The Pastor and his wife, Rosa, with their three sons, together with the support of the Methodist Churches in Keynsham have seen a taste of glorious Somerset by visiting Weymouth, Bristol, SS. Great Britain, Bath, Cheddar and more.

Thank you to all who have supported this chance of this family visiting Britain which would not have been possible without the care of individuals and churches locally here in Somerset and the Latin Link organisation.
