In a letter to The Journal, another Midsomer Norton resident responded to the closures of three high street shops calling for more 'car charging points' and 'improvements to the courtyard area' of The Hollies.
The resident said: "Dear Editor, further to Alun de Pughe’s letter last week regarding improving the footfall in the High Street, I would like to add to his suggestions, as follows:-
"Add more car charging points. There are two at the Sports Centre and three at the top of the South Road car park, but I don’t think that these three are in commission yet. If people make a trip to a charging point then they could visit the High Street while they wait.
"Encourage people using the South Road car park to access the High Street via Hollies Court Arcade, rather than the run down footpath that goes past the back end of two takeaways and a less than friendly fence surrounding the Air Cadet hall. Signage to the entrance and improvements to the courtyard area would make much more of a welcome and raise the footfall to businesses located there.
"These ideas were made to the Town Council in response to a survey requesting suggestions to spend the High Street Regeneration Zone funds."
