I have a lot to learn when it comes to quilting, so I was very happy to help out with the current exhibition of Stephanie Crawford’s superb quilts at Midsomer Quilting in Chilcompton.
Amongst dozens of quilts on display, the largest is a tour-de-force in beautifully understated and neutral colours – and the only bed quilt on show. Further into the award-winning collection you will find Stephanie’s ‘Chinese Journey’ triptych, a triumph of design and planning that she created to document a visit to her son at the Five Dragon Temple in Wudang, in Hubei Province.
Look out for the Great Wall in the background and wonder at Stephanie’s extraordinary quilting expertise. Her masterpiece won first place in the ‘Best in the World’ category at the World Quilt Show in the US in 2014.
The exhibition is open every day between 10 a.m. (10.30 a.m. on Sunday) and 4 p.m, until Monday, August 7th, at Midsomer Quilting, Norton Green Garden Centre in Chilcompton. Admission and car parking are free, and there is easy wheelchair access.
