Jonathan Flower, a researcher at the University of the West of England, is looking for your views on this new technology.

Jonathan is leading an interactive presentation to the Science in Radstock group at their next talk on Tuesday, 20th March at the Radstock Working Men’s Club, starting at 7.30 p.m.

Jonathan’s presentation will come in two parts. The first will be an introduction exploring common questions and concerns, for instance: What do we mean by autonomous vehicles? When might we expect to see them? What are the proposed benefits and current concerns? How likely is a desirable future with autonomous vehicles?

In the second part he will chair a discussion with the audience about the points raised. He will also review the current and upcoming research of UWE and others in this field.

Jonathan Flower works for the Centre for Transport and Society at The University of the West of England. UWE has been working with numerous partners on a number of autonomous vehicle projects over the past few years. As well as the technical developments, these projects are investigating public acceptance of driverless vehicles and exploring the questions of where our society wants to go with this technology.

Right now, UWE are looking for people to take part in their latest research, looking at how driverless cars might interact with cyclists and pedestrians. If you would like to know more, or would like to take part in this research, please email: jonathan.
